A team from Boslan, part of Accenture, is collaborating with the Iberdrola – BP joint venture in the PMO and Project Management of the construction of what will be the largest electrolysis plant in Spain, located next to the BP refinery in Castellón.
This project, with a first phase of 25 MW and the possibility of expansion to 100 MW of electrolysis, aims not only to decarbonize refining processes by replacing gray H₂ from the desulfurization process, but also gives the possibility of valorization of this energy vector to decarbonize adjacent heat-intensive industries or even mobility, boosting industrial decarbonization and strengthening the hydrogen value chain in the country.
The green hydrogen produced will meet EU standards and will be generated with 200 GWh/year of renewable energy from Iberdrola‘s wind and photovoltaic plants.
